Working Title: "A temporary name for product or project used during its production, usually a film, novel, video game or music album. Working titles are used primarily for two reasons: the first being that an official title has not been decided upon, the second being to intentionally disguise the production of a project." (Thanks Wikipedia, I couldn't have said it any better myself!)
Tidbit: Often, movies will be shipped to theatres under their working title rather than their official title. Also, working titles will be used to hide the movie from the public so that the set isn't bombarded with fans harassing the actors and directors (although this doesn't always work.)
So, why did I name by blog "Working Title?" Well, to be perfectly honest, I was having a difficult time trying to come up with a name that fit what I wanted to write about. Suddenly, "Working Title" came to mind and I thought it would be quite appropriate as I had no official name for my blog, and it was related to film. I really liked this idea, and so, the name stuck :)
For your amusement, here are the working titles of some movies:
Black Mask - Pulp Fiction
Everybody Comes to Rick's - Casablanca
Wimpy - Psycho
It Had to be Jew - Annie Hall
Listen Darkling - Vertigo
Not Tonight, Josephine - Some Like it Hot
More to come soon.....
